As we move into Spring, not only is the weather heating up but the debate amongst businesses and technology firms alike about the role of remote working in their businesses.

According to data published by New Street Consulting Group, the number of remote working roles advertised has surged by 233 per cent compared to last year, highlighting how working from home, or at least away from the office has moved from a necessity to the new normal.

With that, here are three essential pieces of equipment to help make your transition to remote working as smooth as possible.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

Creating a distraction-free environment is essential to ensure you can work effectively, focus on the task at hand and are required for certain kinds of editing work.

Ideally, you should have a separate office for work, but if that is simply not possible then noise-cancelling headphones are the next best thing.

They can help reduce distractions, help you relax if you are the type of person who listens to music whilst working and will improve the quality of video calls if they also have a decent microphone.

Backup Drive

Depending on your workplace’s remote set up, it is very important to ensure you have a secure and frequently updated backup drive of your work in case of a system malfunction, data breach or power outage.

Cloud services can work for this, but having a readily available portable hard drive will allow you to continue working even in sub-optimal conditions.

Stable Internet

A stable, high-speed internet connection is more important than ever for work, so if you feel that you are going to be working long-term at home with limited access to an office, it may be worth investing in a high-speed internet service.

As well as this, try to have a large or unlimited data plan on your phone as well; one trick you can do in case of a problem with your internet is to use your phone as a wireless hotspot that can allow your work computer to access mobile internet.
