38% ‘Losing Business’ Because Of Poor Cyber Security

By 6th September 2019Blog2 min read

It might be a wise idea to talk to your local Doncaster IT support company about cyber security and what can be done in this regard, given new research revealing that 38 per cent of companies say they’ve lost out on business as a result of poor practice where this is concerned.

The study, carried out by BitSight and Forrester, found that 80 per cent of those asked said they had experienced a cyber security incident in the last 12 months, Verdict reports.

Chief executive of BitSight Tom Turner explained that everything from brand perception and financial success to company reputation and business continuity now hinges on security performance, but this does need to be measured in order to ensure that performance can be managed effectively.

Interestingly, it was also found that it isn’t just a business’s actual track record when it comes to security that can affect its performance – even the perception that cyber security isn’t strong was proven to be a sufficient deterrent for potential customers.

“We think this study should serve as a wakeup call for security leaders and their executives and boards to take a close look at their strategies for security performance measurement and reporting – after all, their businesses are now on the line,” Mr Turner said.
